INTRODUCTION
I may betray my ignorance saying that the great deal of this life is to be around good teachers and helpful friends but I definitely know that the difference is made by which side are we. There are sides and sides and life, more or less ironically, drags us through everything and let us to choose. The side I am referring to is the one without any shades of misunderstandings that clearly subsides in our heart where there is a point that speaks the same for everyone for which everyone of us has to cut down any hypocrisy or harmful compromise. I said ¡° our heart¡± knowing what beautiful thing is there and that the only key is our sincerity and reasonability with others and us. And since heart is the chamber of our life and our spirit, it is necessary to emphasize over moral life as prevention of mind¡¯s disturbance, confusion, madness and ignorance. Heart is our gate to the path of initiation of what is real. But nobody can pass this gate through a throw of dice or knavish mind because God does not put power in such hands.
I would extend my little tempest of words chasing a truth but I may ask more than to answer and then for what use I might be. I came with this website in my trying to promote the little ¡°secret¡± I have got in my journey of martial arts. This truth comes through a long way as an essence of many generations of masters that was brought to light by one of the greatest searchers, Grandmaster Wang Xiang Zhai. The method he founded it was named Da Cheng Quan (The Boxing of Great Achievement) but Grandmaster¡¯s humbleness changed it in Yi Quan (The Boxing of Intention), concealing a great deal letting us to discover its greatness.
To write about Yiquan is a very sensible work, because to write about it could be equivalent with to write nothing. Yiquan is like Dao, to believe that I have found it in letters means that I already lost it. From this reason it should be maintained in the space of its spirit, in the liberated space of any forms or classifications, in the space of a continuing practice and seeking with a clear and open mind. And as Lao zi let us know that ¡°those who speak are ignorant and those who know don¡¯t speak¡± I may subscribe to the same spirit, not because I understand the profoundness of Dao but more to express that any attempt will fail to catch the truth of my practice. Always the realized man will remain selfless, the sacred will remain meritless, the enlightened will remain nameless, the true word will remain unspoken. We don¡¯t need a name to find out that we are not an illusion but we need to seek ourselves to find out what we are beyond the name. And as these words has to take a break I can let you know what my teachers taught me in case your way in your journey will intersect mine. And that will be an honor whoever you are.

YIQUAN TRAINING METHODS QUOTES |
Grandmaster Wang Xiang Zhai realized the traps of superficial and unnatural ways of training from various styles and genially reached the truth of the most optimal methods to improve the combat skills. These methods are the core of what was to become Yiquan.
ZHAN ZHUANG Standing posture training
With great regard on what it is called internal martial arts training or NeiGong it stands the training of inner Qi-energy motion, using relatively physical motionless standing postures. It sounds like a paradox to train through no motion but what an expression we find here of what Lao zi used to say that ¡°Dao does not do anything but everything is done¡± Same for the ignorant eye ¡°standing¡± for a quite a time without moving may seem inadequate and a waste of time for finding ¡°the Way¡±. Claiming again a paradox, standing without motion does not have anything to do with strictly physical part but a pilgrimage in the realm of the spirit, mounting the source of the heaven and earth and be present in all thousands of changes, traveling the inexhaustible. The paradox here is you travel through your inner universe without making a step but standing. And how can we physically walk on something that is too big to have exterior and too small to have an interior. It may sounds mystic but is not at all.
Once I was doing Zhan zhuang (standing posture) during a modern Wushu session where students were running, jumping, punching, kicking and using all types of weaponry. I did my Zhan zhuang standing for their entire session time. At the end a student come almost irritated and asked: What are you doing? What is the use of just standing like a statue? I had to deliver an answer that I¡¯m not sure it was understood: I am not standing, as I might seem, I am on training. It looks like I am not moving but with my mind and spiritually I am always on the move through the inward space of my inner universe. I am on a move not measured by the minutes of a clock or the days of a calendar but a move with my mind whose velocity is out of time.
SHILI - Motion Training
¡±Outside motion requires inside stability, outside motionless will create inside movement, inside movement will determine outside display¡± a teacher of mine used to say. Once the student will practically perceive the sense of standing training then there is something inside that will determine a physical motion of body. It is not a pre-established or fixed motion like taolu of other styles that may seem of a reverential aesthetics of power but a very spontaneous follow of the intention ¡°-Yi¡± wandering and riding the infinite changes as a boat on the waves of a sea. It is the perfect psychosomatic motion in which the physical action, out of any imposed superficial, is superposed to the mind. This motion is an extension of the inside motion. Or probably paradoxically Shili is a Zhan zhuang in motion - a motion of stillness, a motion of a universe inside of other universe where stillness contains motion as well motion contains stillness.
MOCABU - Stepping
The front leg descends the mountain; the back leg climbs the mountain. If Shili is a Zhan zhuang in motion then Mo ca bu is a shili of the legs following the agility of the intent. What is down needs to follow what is up, what is up needs to join the flow of the great nameless, the great Way always follow what is natural.
FA LI -The Explosive Motion
A wave travels through Entire Ocean that to the end will meet the shore. How it mysteriously comes in the same way unseen goes. But the shore definitely feels the power of its blaze.
Yiquan is recognized for its power that can be developed paradoxically through a very short motion. It is a simple display but a feeling of a terrific sudden projection of power that comes like a wave towards periphery and released like a bullet.
TUI SHOU - Pushing hands
Sun zi - the great general who compiled ¡°The Art of War¡± came with a very simple but efficient concept that could be found in any fighting systems: ¡°I move last but I reach first¡±. In tuishou sensing the other one move will come with the anticipation of his intention. Knowing the intention of the opponent I know where to go, being one step ahead and give the proper answer. It is an answer to establish a balance through a reflecting attitude of ¡°if you are still, I¡¯m still with the sense of moving, if you move, I move having the sense of stillness¡±.
SAN SHOU - Free Sparring
Sparing in Yiquan is like reaching a border of understanding what the explanation loses to explain, same as the case where an attack loses its name because the tension and aggressiveness lose their intention. The supposing attack is the one without intention, becoming a variable of harmony of the whole of the circumstance. The multitude of techniques of Yiquan will subscribe to the verticality and spontaneity of the spirit that will bring out an answer before formation of any thought. So there is no distinction between attack and defense because one contains the other one and if the mind will look for a separation of them, the fixation, rigidity and tension will appear. Essential here is avoiding the avoiding and in attack the lack of the intention to attack.
